Tegra time?

A teaser on Samsung Mobile's Korean website, promoting a new smartphone called the YP-M1, could be the first handset confirmed to run on NVIDIA's Tegra chipset.

Precisely what is being promised on behalf of NVIDIA in this phone remains a mystery, due to the standard of written Korean at HEXUS.channel not being what it used to be, but you can see from the image below that the second feature mentioned in the spec list is clearly made by NVIDIA. We would be grateful for any clarification our Korean readers can offer.

Rumours surfaced of an imminent Tegra handset announcement from Samsung last week, so this doesn't come as a complete surprise. Tegra based smartphones will be competing with those running on chipsets made by other members of the ARM ecosystem, such as Qualcomm and Texas instruments.

The biggest single competitor in this space is Apple, with its iPhone. Ironically, the iPhone uses an ARM based chipset made by...Samsung.
