HEXUS.sharewatch: NVIDIA share price plummets

Last week we reported that, while NVIDIA's most recent quarterly earnings were significantly down on a year ago and the graphics giant posted a loss, the figures represented an improvement on the previous quarter.

Investors were clearly hoping for a lot more and pushed NVIDIA's share price down nearly 14 percent last Friday alone and over 20 percent down on the week. The second quarterly loss in a row seems to have revitalised concerns about NVIDIA's GPU competitiveness in the short term.

Another company that suffered last week was Dell, with a drop in its share price coinciding with the accidental revelation by one of its partners that it's planning a notebook based on Google's Android operating system.

It's possible that investors were spooked by the prospect of Dell straying from its traditional wintel core and possibly alienating Microsoft in the process.

Intriguingly, Google was one of the better performing technology companies last week as the rally improbably continued. Many commentators are getting increasingly nervy about what they're describing as a ‘bear rally' and expect another plunge before long. Buyer beware.
