IDC: UK PC demand holds up as EMEA sales plunge

The yellow line on this last chart shows how dramatically demand dropped off last quarter. The forecast part of the chart is still using data from October last year, before the true extent of the global recession became apparent, so expect revised growth forecasts from IDC, expected next month, to be lower.

 

 

So people are still buying PCs in the UK, but mainly at the cheap end of the market. This exaggeration of an existing trend is not surprising given the state of the economy, but the industry will be hoping people will be prepared to spend more than a couple of hundred quid on a PC once the worst is over.
