Collateral damage

Just one bit of this collateral damage is illustrated by this snapshot of our share list taken this morning. Unsurprisingly we can see drops across the board, but a few big hitters have suffered falls far in excess of the seven percent or so shown by the Dow and NASDAQ.

AMD has seen its gains of the past few weeks pretty much wiped out, while Apple and Dell's downward trajectories appear to have been accelerated by the chaos. Most surprising is an 11 percent drop in Microsoft's share price for no apparent reason of its own making.

At the time of writing, the latest round of tax-payer intervention seems to have brought about a rally in shares, including the tech sector, but there will be little cheering as the world braces itself for the next dramatic announcement,

Sorry but this has been a long time coming. Greedy fat managers are par for the course in big corporations now and they seem to be paying the price in share drops. I for one can't believe that a HBOS/ Lloyds TSB merger is in the best interest of the general punter, but somehow it is probably in the best interests of a Labour government right now…foot, shot, in the are the words that come to mind!
