Board meeting
We usually only get to chat to Taiwanese execs during the annual pilgrimage to Computex, but the roles were reversed at HEXUS towers recently when the great and the good of Gigabyte's motherboard operations flew over to the UK, with talking to us their clear priority.
We got VP of the motherboard business Henry Kao in front of the TV camera to learn a bit more about how Gigabyte goes about things.
There's been a fair bit of attrition in the motherboard sector in recent years, not to mention a global recession, so we started by asking Kao how things are going for his company. It turns out things are going pretty well, so we asked him what Gigabyte's secret is.
Pausing to take a look at the latest piece of Gigabyte circuitry, we moved on to the desktop market as a whole and asked Kao if that market is in decline. We also covered the new generations of hybrid CPU/GPUs and inquired what kind of threat or opportunity they pose. Finally, in the search for further Gigabyte secrets, we ask him to give us a glimpse of what's to come.
