Conclusion
Perfect for those who don't want to invest in the usual SSD+HDD combo, the 960GB BX200 offers reasonable value at the current £210 price point...Crucial has designed the BX200 SSD drive to appeal to the PC builder who appreciates the company's quality control and service but cannot justify the additional expenditure for the MX200.
Perfect for those who don't want to invest in the usual SSD+HDD combo, the 960GB BX200 offers reasonable value at the current £210 price point, but it must be noted that the same capacity in comparable OCZ Trion livery is £40 less. And price is very much a concern at this end of the market.
What Crucial does offer is a drive that, for most users, is more than sufficient for their everyday tasks. Performance junkies need to look elsewhere, yet that has always been the refrain for entry-level drives featuring TLC memory.
The question we're left asking ourselves isn't whether the BX200 is a reasonable SSD - it assuredly is - but whether absolute performance matters more than, say, a 15 per cent price premium? If it does, look elsewhere, because the BX200 isn't designed for you. For anyone else who want a capacious SSD backed by a well-known company, the BX200 960GB is a reasonable proposition.
