Conclusion

...purposely designed to appeal to enthusiasts who want to enter the Intel Skylake fray without committing to a crazy budget.

Gigabyte is wooing adopters to the Intel Skylake platform with a relatively inexpensive board that makes the most of the features endemic to the chipset.

Z170XP-SLI sensibly eschews some of the frivolous and cost-adding extras and focusses on core performance. Rounding out the features that most users want, provision for USB3.1 and improved audio are welcome extras.

This is a board purposely designed to appeal to enthusiasts who want to enter the Intel Skylake fray without committing to a crazy budget. Keeping costs in check is a challenge for any new build of a high-end predilection, but the Z170XP-SLI helps in that regard by offering everything most users will need and not a great deal more. Planning a Skylake refresh? This is a well-rounded Gigabyte board worthy of consideration.
