Conclusion
This board in the editors words "Rocks" it really does, I like it I think anyone who is looking for an upgrade from an elderly Pentium III, or Slot A Athlon, should look seriously at this board, If your contemplating a KT133A based motherboard I would look at this board it offers better memory bandwidth, and more up to date technology for pretty much the same cost as KT133A based boards. At the moment PC2100 RAM costs the same as quality PC133 RAM. The Epox 8K7A+ is one of the cheapest AMD 761 based motherboards around, it has onboard sound should you require it, Its got no useless AMR slots, 6 useful PCI slot, onboard RAID controller, full multiplier adjustment the list goes one, what it doesn't have isn't worth having in my opinion. The manual on the included RAID administrator software is helpful and explains quite a bit on how to use, the Various RAID options available on the board. The section in the manual on using Norton Ghost software is very useful, as Ghost uses lots of fairly complex command line parameters, the manual explains these command lines and goes into a bit of detail on how to make your own restore CD for your system this is a nice touch.
There are a few minor niggles that concern the manual, it doesn't explain the settings for some important bits such as RAM timing, one other discrepancy is with the part on DDR ram installation it says DIMM's have 168 pins, the new DDR RAM has 184 pins as far as I know. but these are minor niggles and they don't really effect setting the board up. I suppose I would prefer BIOS adjustments for all the options, this would save having to pull the side of the case off to adjust something, but the jumpers do their job, if you lose the manual, you just have to look at the board as the settings are printed there anyway (O:. An ISA slot might have been useful for older ISA modems or something, but its exclusion doesn't really matter to much.
This board is one of the first 761 based boards with full multiplier adjustment and FSB options that is available to buy at the moment, the Abit AMD761 based board has just been announced, but the Epox 8K7A + is here now so go buy one you wont be disappointed.
