Thoughts

ATI's transition to PCI Express is a logical one, the company well placed to take advantage of the technology, both in marketing, production and performance terms. They make big noise about their native PCI Express interface and evaluating its performance is something I think most technology commentators are keen to do.

An evolutionary step in any GPU manufacturers plans, the PCI Express transition for graphics is tantalisingly close, ATI allowing us the early glimpse before shipping production hardware.

Axiom is particularly interesting in light of NVIDIA's MXM announcement, a followup article comparing the two in more detail will be forthcoming when we have physical samples of both for analysis.

Late June holds PCI Express D-Day, keep your eyes peeled for more PCI Express coverage in the run up to Intel's pregnant push.
