Final thoughts and rating
Sapphire has recognised that the mid-range Radeon HD 6670 1GB GPU provides a solid platform on which to base a fanless card around. Now shipping with a revised cooling solution and equipped with full HD 6670 speeds, the Sapphire Ultimate version makes a lot of sense if you're partial to near-silent computing.
Set to retail for a £10 premium over an actively-cooled model that's otherwise identical with respect to technical specifications, the £85 Ultimate provides enough oomph for gaming at a full-HD resolution, albeit with medium-quality settings, while AMD's UVD 3.0 video-processing comes in handy when turning attention to multimedia tasks.
In a perfect world we'd like it to be cooled by a single-slot heatsink, like the HD 6570 Ultimate, making it suitable for a wide range of HTPC-orientated chassis, but we believe it's a good enough package to warrant recommendation at the proposed price point. What's more, Sapphire throws in the rather spiffy DiRT 3 right now, thereby reducing the effective cost of the package if Codemaster's latest title whets your appetite.
The Good
Silent
Excellent multimedia credentials
DiRT 3 is bundled
The Bad
Kind of obvious, but more gaming perf is available for same money
