...the $479 recommended asking fee is too expensive given what's on offer.
In a logical move to extend the reach of the latest RDNA 2 gaming architecture, AMD's Radeon RX 6700 XT arrives armed with a new interpretation of Navi primed for lower cost and higher frequencies.
AMD's decision choices lead to a card whose performance is, on average, around the same as GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and naturally some way behind the RTX 3070 and RX 6800.
Conveniently ignoring severe stock shortages and price premiums for a moment, the $479 recommended asking fee is too expensive given what's on offer. The $399 rival RTX 3060 Ti works just as well and offers better ray tracing and DLSS capability to boot, albeit with only 8GB of VRAM compared to 12GB here.
Perhaps AMD is playing it smart with the knowledge that shortages will continue into the year and so why bother with a matching $399 price. This card could be $599 and it'll still sell, such is the time we live in.
More fundamentally, AMD has successfully extended the reach of RX 6000 Series to a wider audience, albeit with a card that's not as attractive as the stablemate RX 6800 or RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070.
