--- Thermal Performance, Conclusion and Certification

Thermal Performance

At idle, the NH-U12F posted a temperature of 47 degrees, placing it in the lower half of the range in tied 19th place.

Under load, we had expected better but things were little different, with the NH-U12F providing unconvincing thermal results. It did, though, pick up a few places, coming in at 16th.

Conclusion

Initial impressions can be deceptive and so it was with the Noctua NH-U12F. Our first take, even from the outside, was of a well-thought-out product. But looks were the best thing about the NH1-U12F.

The mounting system is just far too complicated. Tongue-in-cheek, we tend to think of it as the only advanced enthusiast mounting-system in this review. Some people who've fitted one of these coolers may disagree with our take but many more, we're sure, will think that it's right on the button.

High cost and uninspiring performance do little to help the NH-U12F's cause either. Yes, we do like how the cooler looks but tricky installation means it's not one for the feint-hearted. For this reason it achieves Classic certification.
