Noctua NH-U12F - Introduction and Packaging

Introduction

We have to admit that we'd never heard of Noctua-branded coolers before QuietPC slipped one among the samples it shipped us. The cooler is designed in Austria and built in Taiwan and is the fruit of collaboration between Kolink, Rascom and ÖIWV.

Kolink is the Taiwan-based maker and Rascom is a PC components distributor in Austria. ÖIWV stands for Österreichisches Institut für Wärmeübertragung und Ventilatorentechnik. That translates into, the Austrian Institute for Heat-Transmission and Fan Technology.

The association of these three outfits, it's claimed, will ensure that Noctua-branded products will be world-class cooling-solutions. So, let's take a look and see how their flagship product, the NH-U12F, fares.

Packaging

The NH-U12F features a theme common to all Noctua products - brown and cream with the odd splash of blue. The public face of the NH-U12F is a sleeve that slides over a plain black box.

Slipping off the sleeve and opening the box reveals a 120mm fan along with the clips to attach it to the heat-sink.

Accessories are packaged within a further small box and, nice touch, include vibration strips for the fan as well as a full-colour instruction booklet.
