Best Packaging – Introduction

If on-shelf looks were everything, there would be one clear winner, the OCZ Vindicator. Its packaging is slick-looking and makes all the information you need easily accessible. But putting looks ahead of substance can result in problems and that was evident from the shipping damage the Vindicator suffered.

A thin plastic box coupled with a lack of internal support for the cooler means that there was too little protection and too much movement inside the box.

There is quite a common packaging format appearing on the market now - a clear, but rigid, plastic shell wrapped in a cardboard outer sleeve – and it's proving popular among manufacturers. The reason is simple enough – this format gives excellent support to the product in shipping, can be re-used with ease and still lets the product be seen.

Fact is, it's a favourite with us, too.
