Final Thoughts and Rating

Favouring function over frivolity and marketed with a straightforward £28.99 price tag, this giant cooler offers a lot of performance potential for an agreeable fee.

Picking out the right CPU cooler for your next PC build can be a tricky decision. There is a huge amount of choice, you need to consider whether you want air or liquid, and pricing can range from as little as £10 to well over £100.

Noctua and Corsair are the two we routinely turn to for our air- and liquid-cooled needs, but the more savvy builders among us will rightly argue that today's high-end CPU coolers are missing the point with lofty price tags that have a real impact on system-wide budget. Sure, premium options such as the Hydro Series H110 do a great job, but the cooler alone costs more than a latest-generation Core i3 processor.

Balancing the playing field as a more affordable option, Deepcool's Gamer Storm Lucifer arrives on the scene as the Dacia of CPU coolers and is a welcome addition to a crowded market. Favouring function over frivolity and marketed with a straightforward £28.99 price tag, this giant cooler offers a lot of performance potential for an agreeable fee. The sheer size of the heatsink may prove problematic in less-spacious builds, and the colour scheme is an acquired taste, but if you need maximum air-cooled performance at a minimal cost, you'll do well to best the Deepcool Lucifer.

The Good

Costs less than £30
Very good cooling performance
Bundled 140mm PWM fan
Scope for push/pull configuration
Keeps noise levels in check

The Bad

May obstruct a memory slot or two
Not the prettiest CPU cooler

For the name alone…
So it's basically a much cheaper version of Noctua's heatsink and fan combos (which are bloody good).

For the money, it'd be rude not to try one.
If the colour is REALLY that much of an issue against that kind of performance, I'd raise an eyebrow.
This should get alot more than Hexus good Value

The good value is staggering, but the performance is also very good. This should have been compared to a Noctua cooler and see how they go toe to toe.
Just one question, how do I order?
