Hitachi GST has announced its Touro Pro family of external hard drives. The twist is a medley of local and cloud-based storage, all wrapped-up together, in both desktop and mobile varieties.
Beginning with the Touro Mobile Pro, both 500GB and 750GB capacities are available, from £74.99 and £89.99, respectively. 7,200RPM drives and, what Hitachi GST describes as a sleek design, combine with the speed and convenience of USB 3.0 connectivity.
Moving to the Touro Desk Pro, capacities start at 1TB through to 3TB, with prices ranging from £79.99 through to £154.99. Once again, Hitachi GST uses 7,200RPM drives and a USB 3.0 interface, whilst for usability purposes, a stackable desktop design is touted.
3GB of cloud-based storage is offered and users are extended the opportunity to increase this to 250GB, at a cost of $49 US Dollars per year, which includes support for multiple systems and apps for the iPad/iPhone access. The manufacturer tells us that its cloud-based service is also accessible via web browsers, tablets and Smartphones.
The Touro Mobile Pro solutions should be available immediately, whilst the desktop flavours will become available in June.
