Thecus has announced its latest foray in the network-attached storage (NAS) market with the launch of its seven-bay N7700SAS.
The device, pictured above, looks awfully similar to the N7700 we reviewed earlier this year, but packs a couple of noteworthy internal upgrades. The N7700's combination of a 1.86GHz Intel Celeron M processor and 1GB of DDR2 memory has been replaced by something a little more tasty - namely an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and 2GB of DDR2 memory.
The unit's beefier performance should allow for more concurrent connections, and quicker system response, says Thecus.
As with the N7700, the N7700SAS offers a variety of RAID modes including RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, and JBOD - and there's also support for RAID expansion and RAID level migration, too.
Thecus has yet to mention pricing, but with the standard N7700 demanding an asking price of £747.49, we'd expect to be paying over £800 for its more powerful sibling.
