How on the heels of QNAP, Thecus is today chiming in with an affordable home NAS solution of its own, the N0204 miniNAS.
The diminutive two-bay hot-swappable solution, first seen by HEXUS at CeBIT '09 earlier this month, takes key elements of Thecus NAS functionality and squeezes them into a tiny 133mm x 88mm x 63mm casing designed with the home user in mind.
Despite its lack of size, the N0204 miniNAS provides plenty of useful NAS features - including support for RAID 0, 1 and JBOD, ample multimedia support via an iTunes server and media server, lower power consumption with support for scheduled on/off, and the promise of near-silent operation, too.
A USB 2.0 port at the front allows for convenient access to USB storage devices, and a USB 1.1 port at the rear - alongside Gigabit Ethernet - allows for the use of USB peripherals, including USB WLAN adaptors.
Thecus is yet to confirm the unit's maximum capacity - and we've yet to receive the all-important pricing and avalability information - but with the dodgy-looking mauve colour seemingly behind us, we already want one.
