Taiwan-based Transcend is one of the world's largest sellers of flash memory products, but it hasn't quite managed to establish itself as a household name here in the UK.
In 2009, however, it's hoping to change all that by launching a range of storage solutions on our shores. One that's managed to catch our attention is the 1.8in portable solid-state drive, pictured below.
The drive offers a mighty useful storage capacity of 128GB, and it's made of NAND-flash memory so you needn't worry about shock or vibration. Measuring 80mm x 50mm x 12.5mm, it's a pocket-size drive that offers a little extra versatility in the form of both USB and eSATA connectivity - the latter offering read and write speeds of 90MB/s and 50MB/s, respectively.
We don't yet know exactly when it'll arrive in UK stores, but Transcend tells us to expect a price in the region of £150 to £200.
