Just ahead of the long weekend Corsair launched the new LUX range of mechanical keyboards. This new range builds upon the Corsair K-Series,the K70, K70 RGB and K65 keyboards, to bring along enhanced lighting, USB pass-through and a back-lit optimized key cap font. Beyond these new features Corsair would like to reassure you that its winning designs, with their aluminium chassis and Cherry MX keyswitches, remain unchanged.
An important functional change in the LUX range is the addition of USB 2.0 pass-through. This was a "long requested feature", according to Corsair and it is now a standard feature throughout the LUX range. A USB pass-though socket provides a convenient port to connect a mouse or another more often plugged/unplugged device like a USB storage drive.
The LUX range uses a larger, clearer keycaps font. With its greater size and clarity the Corsair keyboard ultra-bright lighting can be even more impressive. The keys are laser etched for durability. While on the topic of lighting, Corsair has included an "enhanced internal lighting controller," in the new LUX range. With the finer colour adjustment and more vibrant patterns and effects available, users can achieve even more exciting lighting effects via the free CUE software.
As mentioned in the intro, Corsair has retained the durable, good quality aluminium construction. As well as this, every LUX keyboard features built-in volume controls, dedicated media keys, a detachable soft-touch wrist rest and 100 per cent anti-ghosting / full key rollover circuitry. Amongst the new range buyers get a choice of six Cherry MX keyswitch types, three different backlighting options, and two keyboard sizes. FPS and MOBA keycap sets are provided.
I've been sent the US and UK recommended prices by Corsair, which are as follows:
- K70 LUX RGB - $159.99 (£139.99)
- K65 LUX RGB - $129.99 (£109.99)
