A short walk down from the Disklabs' stand was PSA Parts Ltd, a company that specialises in providing batteries and power adapters for laptops, camcorders, LCD monitors, and the like.
One of the more interesting products was the 2-Power XCell universal external battery packs. The XCells use either lithium-polymer or lithium-ion batteries that are housed in ultra-slim packs which are more akin to mousemats than traditional batteries. The packs are supplied with a number of tips that, on choosing the correct one, plugs into the power inlet of your laptop and, PSA say, allows them to be compatible with over 90% of notebooks. A regular charger is also supplied, too.
The smaller pack, on the left, has a 60WHr capacity and can offer an additional running time of 3-5 hours. The larger pack offers 140WHr and is more suitable for power-hungry laptops.
One advantage of these packs over buying a second battery from the laptop manufacturer is the added compatibility should you change notebook brands. Their relatively light weight, decent capacity, and ultra-slim form factor makes you wonder why they haven't been around longer. The 60WHr pack is priced at around £125, whilst the larger 140WHr pack weighs in at £240.
Definitely one of the cooler products on show.
