Toshiba will introduce the newest addition to its ultra-light laptop range, the Toshiba Portégé Z830 Ultrabook, later this month.

The 15.9mm-slim Portégé Z830 features a choice between models hosting either the Intel Core i3 or i5 processors and will include 6GB DDR3 memory and a 128GB SDD. All models will sport a 13.3in HD (1,366x768) LED display, a backlit keyboard and HDMI, VGA, USB 3.0 and Ethernet connections. Good stuff.

Due for release at the end of November, the Toshiba Portégé Z830 Ultrabook is expected to cost £899, excluding VAT, for the lowest-spec model, the Intel Core i3 processor with 128GB SSD.

Portege they say, but only if you put it in a heavy armoured bag! In my experience these things are bendier than olympic gymnasts.

Also, what's the obsession with “thin”, it still requires the same size of bag, still weighs the same, except it has to lack fat ports and structural integrity… seems like a silly trade off for me. Do people really care how thin their laptop is? Within reason of course, but up to an inch or so is hardly going to make much difference to it's portability.
Please get rid of the VGA port, Toshiba!
