If 2012 continues in the way it has started, we're in for a bumper year of technology. We're only two weeks in, and we've already so much to sink our teeth into.

In the HEXUS labs, we've been giving AMD's hot-new Radeon HD 7970 a thorough going over. We've a review of XFX's Double Dissipation Edition, and we've also tested Sapphire's card in three-screen Eyefinity at 5,760x1,080. If that isn't enough, stay tuned as we've another HD 7970 review in the pipeline - and, without giving too much away, the upcoming card looks set to be the best Radeon HD 7970 thus far.

Moving away from graphics, we've an in-depth review of OCZ's latest SSD, the Octane, which features a brand new Indilinx Everest controller. Click through to see if it's a viable alternative to the popular SandForce series. And, if you're in the market for a truly high-end motherboard, take a look at our preview of Sapphire's Pure Black X79N - a top-of-the-range Intel X79 board that offers no less than six full-size PCI-express slots.

On top of the usual spate of reviews, this week's news has been dominated by events at Vegas' annual Consumer Electronics Show. There are numerous stories to catch up with on our dedicated CES event page, but here's a brief snapshot of a dozen happenings over the course of the past week:

On top of all that, there's still time to enter our Mad Catz competition - we're giving you the chance to win an officially-licensed Tritton Detonator headset for Xbox 360 - and don't forget to have your say in our Question of the Week.
