The start of the week hosted a DDR3 shootout, as we put competitors to the test in Intel's Sandy Bridge range. Next on the playlist, AMD's HD 6790 stretched its legs, and in the realm of SSDs, we allowed Crucial's latest solution to throw out some numbers. Wrapping up reviews for the week, Intel's Core i7 990X Extreme Edition obliged and crunched through benchmarks, but that wasn't before AMD's HD 6450, popped in for a preview.

In technology news, Microsoft appears to be sprucing up Windows 8 with a touch of ribbons, and Commodore USA is going 80's retro with the C64X. Computex 2011 is under 2 months away, and we've heard that AMD has initiated shipment of its Llano APUs whilst Intel - teaming up with Dell - is trying its hand at the RISC market.

AVG's LiveKive is offering 5GB worth of free cloud-based storage, and in the meantime, Seagate has taken inspiration from the term 'pencil-thin' whilst designing its GoFlex Slim. ASUS has gone bold with its Rampage III Black Edition motherboard, and AMD has been testing the waters with a new form of marketing.

As the HD 6790 launched this week, HIS brought its IceQ X cooling contraption straight to the ballpark, following up with some HD 6950 models too. Those hoping for some lock-and-key action with the HD 6790, may have been disappointed as AMD announced that its latest offering, is immune to such acts. MSI was favourably occupied however, touting its R6870 Hawk whilst ZOTAC, notched up the amps for NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 580.

With Altec Lansing making some noise, Cubitek tried for the opposite approach and ASUS gave its Lamborghini a polish, whilst Sandy Bridge swept through MSI's portfolio.
