If you've grown addicted to Electronic Arts' Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and just so happen to use an ATI Radeon HD series graphics card, we've good news.

AMD has just issued a new preview driver that's said to resolve the long load times you may have been experiencing with your Radeon HD 5000, 4000, 3000 or 2000-series graphics card.

The ATI Catalyst 10.4a preview release, which fixes the problem on 32-bit or 64-bit installations of Windows XP, Vista or 7, is available to download at support.amd.com and comes recommended to any user experiencing the problem.

As a preview release, however, AMD is quick to point out that the ATI Catalyst 10.4a driver hasn't yet been thoroughly tested and isn't officially supported.

If you're willing to put up with the long Bad Company 2 load times for a little while longer, we reckon an official 10.4 release will become available in about a week's time.

Installed these drivers for my 5850 a few days ago and I've had no problems. Bad Company 2 now loads easily twice as fast as it used to.
When we're talking about ‘long’ load times. Exactly how long should we be look at on a decent system with 4GB Ram, max settings, and standard 7200rpm 3.5" mechanical drive? Game load times can be quite long anyway (ie. Crysis), but I'm unsure if I'm experiencing this problem without testing the load time before and after installing this driver…

Well I was getting in games around 30-45 seconds before my mate who is running an i5 750, 4GB RAM, 4850 1GB and an F3 pre-game patch. He's just tried to download this hotfix and apparently its limited his resolution to 1400*1050 so at this moment in time its done him no favours.
Well I think I can wait a week for the official driver, since I only installed Car 10.3 48 hours ago!

I had that resolution problem just after I installed the hotfix but a simple restart fixed that for me.
