It's coming up to a month since AMD dropped version 9.7 of its ATI Catalyst software suite, and its monthly release schedule suggests that version 9.8 is just around the corner.

Whilst we're expecting an official release in the coming days, AMD's senior manager of advanced marketing , Ian McNaughton, is allowing eager users to get first dibs on the latest revision by posting download links on his official blog.

We appreciate the early availability as much as the next user, but sadly there's no mention of what version 9.8 brings to the table. It's likely to be a boatload of bug fixes and performance enhancements, but there's only one way to find out for sure. Download links for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the upcoming release can be found at blogs.amd.com.

Heres hoping they work under my 4850x2 as 9.6 and 9.7 won't even install without BSOD.

Make sure you get the version from Sapphire direct, rather than the generic drivers.

These drivers sound like they're really targeted at AMD chipset users - I really hope AMD don't go too far down that route in the future because I want to be able to run my AMD GPU in an Intel system :p

The 9.6 and 9.7 from sapphires site were the same as generic ones. Anyway have tried 9.8 and they are working on my 4850x2 under windows 7 x64 a minor niggle in that when systems boots using DVI the monitor signal goes off only way round it to unplug and plugging back in again sorts it. This problem affects quite a few users on AMD forums.
the amin page doesnt show the ammount of comments any more and the articles dont have links to comments either… :(
