Perhaps the summer heat is getting to AMD and its graphics-card partners, but the price of the mid-to-high-end Radeon HD 4800-series has been dropping like the proverbial stone in recent weeks.

Radeon HD 4890 prices have been slashed, Radeon HD 4850 is now below £85, albeit on pre-order, and HD 4870 512MB a snip above £120,

Looking at Scan's today-only page, one product stands out. The dual-GPU Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 X2 1GB is currently available for £136, including delivery.* Yes, it's not as good as the 2GB version, which is better-suited for high-resolution gaming, but it equates to some £68 per Radeon HD 4850 512MB - pre-CrossFired on one board. What's more, it has four DVI outputs for esoteric multi-monitor fun.

The price will be available until around 13:00 today, so be quick if you want one. Seen any other bargains? Feel free to share them in the HEXUS.community.

I saw this earlier today and was reading about the performance. I couldn't find any reviews on the 512mb version but the 1gb version seems very good!

Also, the cooler also seems to work wonders in keeping the card cool, but it comes at a price with noise, and a lot of it according to one review. :(

Great price though.

EDIT: Another review also mentioned the cooler is noisy :(

I know that from talking to Sapphire the company has gone to lengths to modify the BIOS profile on the 2GB version, whch is now much, much quieter. Those reviews are based on the original BIOS, understandly, and if anyone's interested I can try to get the newer BIOS direct from Sapphire.
How goods the power usage on this card? Alot more than a 9800GTX?.
I think it's near time Hexus did some more bang for buck evaluations - there are some great prices out there at the moment.
Is this really that good value!! I think two 4770s at about £150 and are alot faster and quieter. Ok, might not be on one card, but still….
