VIA do Sempron on AM2 with dual S27s

HEXUS.CEBIT

As part of the massive amount of Socket AM2 stuff around at CeBIT this year, VIA are showing off Sempron running with DDR2, rather than the X2, FX or single-core full Athlon 64 processors everyone else is using. On top of all that, they're showing it off on their dual PEG16X K8T890 Pro reference board with a pair of S3 S27s.

I'm not sure what legs S27 has left, despite it not being around for very long to date, but as a technology demo for the new platform it impresses. The reference board actually looks decently laid out, but it remains to be seen if anyone will take that layout on in a strict sense.

K8T890 Pro has seen seriously few enthusiast class design wins from the bigger board partners, hiding it out of sight for many when compared to nForce4 and Radeon Xpress, but it's still decent enough core logic if you're on a budget.

Maybe we'll see more boards aimed at the enthusiast after AM2 launches, sporting VIA's handywork. I for one would like to see it happen. So how about it, ASUS, DFI et al?
