If you're waiting for mid-range Core i5 processors to hit the market before investing in Intel's Nehalem architecture, you might be waiting longer than you'd anticipated.
According to Chinese newspaper Digitimes, motherboard manufacturers have revealed that Intel is putting back the launch of its Core i5 parts - codenamed Lynnfield - from July to September 2009. Given the continued success of its Core 2 line, it comes as little surprise and will give Intel more time to clear out existing stock.
Reports also suggest that the pricing leaked last month is correct, so - when the chips finally reach retail - we should be looking at 95W LGA1156 chips clocked at 2.66GHz, 2.80GHz and 2.93GHz, and priced at $196, $284, and $562, respectively.
Intel, it seems, is in the comfort zone.
