Dataram announced the immediate availability of an 8GB memory upgrade for Dell's PowerEdge 2970 and 6950 servers. These servers feature AMD Opteron processors and low-power DDR2 memory technologies. Dataram's DRL6950Q/8GB consists of a single 8GB Quad-Rank DDR2-667 ECC Registered RoHS-compliant DIMM. Memory must be ordered and installed in matched pairs.
PowerEdge 2970
Featuring dual-core AMD Opteron processors, the 2U PowerEdge 2970 server provides a balance of system features and size. Customers can maximise server performance while keeping space and energy needs to a minimum. The 2970 has 8 DIMM slots (4 slots per processor) and supports up to 64GB of Dataram memory.
PowerEdge 6950
The PowerEdge 6950 is a 4U rack server delivering exceptional performance with impressive low power consumption. The 6950 features up to four dual-core AMD Opteron processors. The server is built to handle demanding enterprise applications making it perfect for large databases, server consolidation and virtualisation. The 6950 has 16 DIMM slots (4 slots per processor) and supports up to 128GB of Dataram memory.
In addition to the new 8GB product Dataram also offers 1GB, 2GB and 4GB capacities.
