PRESS RELEASE

Four next-generation MFPs will let businesses embrace the latest ways of working

London, 11 September 2013 - Sharp has launched four new multifunction systems that provide the power and performance needed by modern workgroups today, combined with the cloud and connectivity capabilities that are widely expected to become commonplace in the future. Sharp's new products will transform the primary role of MFPs as document output devices, to their use as fully network-integrated information systems.

As with Sharp's other MFPs, the MX-5141N, MX-5140N, MX-4141N and MX-4140N feature fast, high-quality printing, copying and scanning, plus a wide range of optional extras. But what really makes these machines different is how they can be integrated with office workflows and the latest ways of working.

"The explosive growth of smartphones, tablets, wireless technologies and, most importantly, the cloud, has changed the way that people expect to access and use information," Tom Primett, UK Product Marketing Manager.  "MFPs have to be part of that evolution. Sharp is taking an active role in driving their transformation from simple document creation and management devices to machines which can find and serve essential business information on demand."

The new MFPs, which feature output speeds of up to 51 pages per minute in colour as well as black & white, feature full and immediate access to the internet and the cloud.

Their role as ‘information gateways' is supported by a large, easy-to-use control panel that provides full internet access - for research or simply for checking last minute emails and attachments.

"Your information and applications are always available, even if you don't have your laptop with you," said Tom Primett, UK Product Marketing Manager.  "And if you want to print from or scan to your smart phone or tablet, you can connect to the MFP wirelessly and easily."

Productivity, security and energy efficiency

Recognising the continuing importance of more conventional capabilities, Sharp has included existing features from its other multifunction systems. These include workflow automation powered by Sharp OSA; Adobe PostScript 3, a choice of fast document feeder; an internal network-accessible hard drive, and a paper supply that can grow to 6,600 sheets. Various finishing options are also available.

Robust security features include user authentication, and secure data encryption and erasure. A range of advanced eco features completes a design which is ideal for the office of the future.
