D-Link First Networking Company to Offer Popular Desktop Utilities to Monitor Draft 802.11n Wi-Fi® Network ActivityLondon UK, 5th September 2007 – D-Link, the end-to-end networking solutions provider for business and consumers, today announced its award-winning Draft 802.11n Wireless N Gigabit Router (DIR-655) now allows users to monitor network performance through the use of Yahoo!® Widgets. D-Link is the first networking company to support the Yahoo! Widgets utilities for home networking products.
The 'D-Link Network Monitor' Widget will display key network performance data for Internet, WLAN, and LAN connections. Over 30 types of network data are easily viewable from the widget, including number of networked devices, security settings and much more. Yahoo! Widgets provide users access to more than 4,000 desktop applications that allow them to stay current with a live, at-a-glance view of their favourite Internet information and services, PC performance and the status of peripheral computer components such as a Wireless N network.
Powered by Wireless N technology and equipped with three external antennas, the DIR-655 Wireless N Gigabit Router provides superior wireless coverage for larger homes and offices, or for users running bandwidth-intensive applications. When connected to a cable or DSL modem, it provides high-speed Internet access to multiple computers, game consoles, and media players. The DIR-655 creates a secure wireless network to share photos, files, music, videos, printers, and network storage, and includes a 4-port 10/100/1000 Gigabit switch that connects Gigabit wired devices for enjoying lag-free network gaming and faster file transfers.
The DIR-655 has already received ten UK press awards since its launch in May 2007 and has just been recognised as the fastest router available on the US market, according to recently filed industry tests performed by Octoscope, a Boston-area consulting firm that conducts competitive product performance testing.

Users will also need to update their Wireless N Gigabit Router with the latest firmware available from the D-Link Support Site during September.
