D-Link 11ac routers rise to first place with 12.7% market share
London, 25th March 2014 - D-Link led the global consumer Wi-Fi shipment market of Wireless AC home routers in Q3 2013, according to a 'Wi-Fi Equipment' study released by ABI Research. The study revealed that D-Link achieved a leading 12.7 per cent global market share in the third quarter of last year, based on quarterly shipment data and forecasts.
ABI Research's multivendor study covered the worldwide Consumer and Enterprise Wireless LAN (WLAN) equipment market. The worldwide Wi-Fi customer premises equipment market, including access points, routers and gateways shipments, reached over 139.1 million in 2013.
Wireless N devices still occupied the biggest market share of the consumer Wi-Fi device shipments last year. But ABI Research industry analysts predict that this figure is likely to decline, and expect that Wireless AC devices will represent almost half (45 per cent) of shipments at the end of 2014, in line with Wireless AC device adoption growth.
"ABI's research is a tremendous validation of the effort D-Link has put into communicating and delivering the benefits of Wireless AC," said Paul Routledge, Senior Business Manager, D-Link UK and Ireland.
"Wireless AC is far superior to Wireless N in accommodating the modern-day wireless connectivity demands of consumers, who want to quickly and seamlessly stream media, do online gaming, surf the Web and more. Last year D-Link introduced the world's most advanced and comprehensive range of Wireless AC Cloud Routers. Holding the number one market share position for Wireless AC home routers in Q3 2013 reinforces our commitment to offering solutions that suit every scenario and price point."
