Rotterdam (The Netherlands), November 2011 - Sitecom extends its successful Smart Living line with the MD-273 Network TV Media Player. The MD-273 lets users enjoy their digital media content stored within the home network on for example a computer or Home Storage Center (NAS), directly on the TV. As many users have large amounts of digital photos, music and movies, that are often stored on different devices within the network, the MD-273 is the ideal solution for users who want to give a second life to their digital content such as holiday pictures, home videos, and their favorite movies and songs. The MD-273 is DLNA certified and automatically connects to other UPnP AV devices (Universal Plug and Play Audio and Video). This allows digital files stored in the network to be shared and accessed easily. The Network TV Media Player supports full HD quality (1080p) and plays the most common media formats.
Support of online services
The MD-273 supports the use of free online content services to allow users to enjoy the full digital entertainment spectrum. Users can enjoy a wide range of internet services including Google Picasa and Flickr to view photos, YouTube XL and MediaFly to watch internet videos, vTuner to listen to internet radio stations and Yahoo StockMarketWidget and WeatherWidget to keep on top of the latest financial market and weather information.
Media Remote App
Next to the included manual remote control, Sitecom offers the free Media Remote App to enjoy the MD-273 Network TV Media Player to the fullest. Available in the App Store as well as the Android market, the free Media Remote App turns the mobile device into a virtual remote control that allows the user to easily browse their media files and search, select and play them with one touch control. One touch control makes it possible to browse and select the digital content with simple gestures like taps, swipes, pinches and flicks, that users of Apple and Android devices are already familiar with. The virtual keyboard allows the user to quickly enter text and makes searching for a file fast and easy. Moreover, the Media Remote App also supports a shuffle mode: shake the device to play a random song on the TV or audio system; shake the device again to go to the next song.
Ease-of-use
The MD-273 Network TV Media Player is part of Sitecom's Smart Living Line, which was developed from a non-technical perspective with the focus on the needs of end users. Much attention was given to the new sleek black design and a user-friendly and intuitive menu that allows easy navigation. The concept of user-friendliness is fully applied from packaging, to product features and services offered. The two USB 2.0 ports make it easy to connect the Network TV Media Player to an external hard drive or make a wireless connection via a Wireless Media Adapter 300N. Once the MD-273 is connected to the TV through the included HDMI-cable, the user can enjoy the digital media content stored in the home network on his TV in full HD quality. Older TVs that don't support full HD can be connected with the included composite cable for video and stereo audio. The intuitive menu has a fully customized user interface which was developed by Sitecom to guarantee a maximum ease-of-use.
Media Formats
Besides popular media formats such as MP3 for music, JPG for photos and MPG for movies, the MD-273 Network TV Media Player also supports a series of other media formats. Support of video formats like MKV, Xvid, DivX and AVI, audio formats like AC3, FLAC and WMA and picture formats like GIF, TIFF and PNG make the full spectrum of digital entertainment available to the user. Furthermore, the MD-273 is able to read the menus of DVDs and structure of Blu-ray in so-called ISO files, so it is easy to navigate a movie and access DVD extras for example. The MD-273 also supports audio playback in Dolby Digital and DTS 2.0 which means the user can enjoy optimal sound quality when listening to his music and movies.
