PRESS RELEASE

- Research Reveals Ultrabooks will Make Up 40% of Notebook Market by 2015 -

Warrington, United Kingdom - 11th November 2011 - VIP Computers, one of the largest independent distributors of components, peripherals and consumer products has today unveiled their plans to get behind Intel's new Ultrabook initiative and penetrate the fledging notebook market.

With ASUS UX21 stock selling out immediately and resellers eager to secure allocation in the next batch of stock coming from ASUS, VIP Computers are extremely optimistic about the benefits that this new form factor brings to the market.

According to a report issued by IHS, formerly known as iSuppli on Friday, the research firm predicts that the thin-and-light laptops will account for more than 40 percent of all notebook shipments by 2015.

"To compete with media tablets, notebook PCs must become sexier and more appealing to consumers," said IHS analyst Matthew Wilkins, in a statement accompanying the report. "With media tablets having already reversed the expansion of the previously fast-growing netbook platform, PC makers now are keenly aware that the notebook must evolve to maintain market growth and relevance."

The ASUS UX21 is one of the first ultrabooks to hit the market and early indications at VIP Computers confirm that there will be rapid growth in this sector.  Dave Stevinson, VIP's sales director said: "The market is ripe for ultrabooks, which are a sort of cross between a conventional laptop and a tablet. The ASUS UX21 rivals Apple's MacBook Air providing a really thin and light portable form factor, long battery life and good processing power at a competitive price. "

"The ability to leave the product in very low power standby for up to a week with almost instant on facility will be particularly attractive to customers who regularly use their notebooks on the go," concluded Stevinson.

Resellers will start to see VIP's backing of the ASUS product through a series of advertisements in trade publications, an email shot campaign and increased stock holding to satisfy the increasing demand.
