Telford, England, 26th February 2008- GETAC Inc., a leading, specialist rugged mobile computer manufacturer, has today unveiled details of its new fully rugged notebook, the B300. GETAC’s new ‘hard as nails’ road warrior has been designed to be fully customisable to fulfill specific requirements. It has an extensive list of security, power and connectivity options for productive, worry free mobile computing, thus making it suitable for a vast number of vocations.
GETAC is pleased to announce the new B300 as the first fully rugged notebook to include the latest development in Sunlight Readable Technology. GETAC’s extensive technological and manufacturing experience within the specialised rugged market sees them introduce the B300 to the market with the option of a high brightness Sunlight Readable panel of 1200nits. Using advanced, efficient thermal management, GETAC’s 1200nits technology exceeds the industry standard of 1000 nits which is currently deemed as the highest currently available on the market. One click away with ‘quick key’ function, the optional Sunlight-Readable LCD display ensures continuous use under bright ambient lighting conditions and extremely bright outdoor environments by intensifying the visibility of the B300’s LCD display. Moreover, GETAC’s 1200 nits sunlight readable panels can be incorporated with touch screen functionality. The brightness of competing panels can be reduced by 20-30% when touch screen functionality is added.
Also accessible via ‘quick key’, the B300 boasts a Black-Out mode whereby users can turn off all lights (including the panel backlight and all LED indicators), to avoid being conspicuous in darkened conditions and exposing a current location when it can cost lives! Night Vision mode, which uses a sophisticated software algorithm to switch easily between normal and NV Mode, is available as an optional upgrade. Night Vision mode is a patented micro-current control technology (an embedded mask) that eliminates the need for a screen optical filter when wearing night vision goggles. GETAC is currently the only company to offer this technology which was designed to meet the MIL-STD-3009. The B300 also has an Auto Brightness Adjustment feature as standard to enhance power management efficiency. A light sensor designed to detect ambient lighting conditions adjusts the B300 panel’s brightness automatically which consequently conserves battery power. The B300 offers a 12 hour battery life with its onboard 9 cell battery making it ideal for use in environments where a power source is unavailable and for extended use. The B300 can be upgraded to include a secondary battery pack.
The B300 has been designed to allow it to be taken into inhospitable environments and harsh weather conditions. It features a hard wearing fully magnesium alloy case resilient to small drops and hard knocks and features a shock mounted HDD which protects against data loss during unexpected free drops, vibration or if shock occurs. The B300 is both IP54 and MIL-STD-810F compliant thus is equipped with sealed I/O caps and doors to prevent solid particles and moisture such as dust, rain and spillages from entering the unit.
The B300 features a multitude of security and defensive features to ensure data integrity remains in tact in the event of theft, hacking or accidental damage which include; a Biometric Fingerprint Reader, a secure and reliable authentication device for log-in or to access sensitive information; Password Security options for supervisors/users which will lock the HDD if an unauthorised user attempts to enter the system; a Trusted Platform Module (TPM 1.2) which guards against unauthorised tampering from physical theft of software attack and the option to include a Smart Card Reader.
GETAC understands that communication on the move can be of vital importance and so has designed the B300 to include a variety of wireless capabilities to ensure no matter what communication requirements you may have, they are catered for. The B300 supports 802.11a/g/n WLAN technology and Bluetooth V2.0 as standard, and GPRS/EV-DO/HSPDA is available as an upgrade. Connectivity is also of utmost importance and the B300 includes an array of I/O ports, including two RS-232 serial ports, allowing more devices to be connected simultaneously.
The B300 will be showcased on the GETAC stand, Hall 25, stand B05 at CeBIT 2008 (Hannover, Germany, March 4th to March 9th). For further information on GETAC’s extensive rugged portfolio, which includes; Hand Held devices, Notebooks, Tablet PCs and more please visit www.getac.com.
