And it's all done from the same chipset

CES 2007 PulseLINK’s Whole-Home Interactive HD solution is claimed to be the first to allow room-to-room distribution of multiple HDTV streams and multimedia content over co-ax and wireless networks simultaneously from the same chipset.

The CWave PL3100 chipset is a hybrid wireless/wired solution enabling simultaneous operation of FireWire 1394 and Gigabit Ethernet over the existing co-ax backbone with the added benefit of high data rate wireless networking of peripheral multimedia devices within each room.

Access to High Definition multimedia content throughout the home is achieved with "guaranteed" end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS). CWave is said to enable "unequalled" whole-home High Definition networking with the necessary capacity for interactive capabilities including pause, fast-forward, fast-rewind and menu navigation.

The company reckons that its solution will open up a whole new market for service providers and CE manufacturers of set-top boxes, HDTV displays, personal video recorders, DVD players, Media Center PCs and other multimedia devices.

Perhaps that futuristic home with interactive panels in every room is just around the corner? Now, where’s the pill I can have instead of food?
