Love it or loathe it, it's hard not to notice the hoopla surrounding what has become the year's biggest shopping day. Yep, Black Friday is here and retailers across the country are eager to tempt our wallets with deals and bargains that are said to be too good to ignore.
Heavyweights such as Amazon and Currys have been bombarding our TV sets with advertisements over the course of the past 24 hours, while John Lewis has already reported taking five orders every second online. It's inevitably going to be a busy day, and with many consumers expecting prices to rise in 2017 as Britain edges toward a European Union exit, this year's Black Friday could be seen as light relief in the face of a devalued pound.
But are the deals really as good as they're made out to be? That's always debatable, though I have to confess, I've already bought a couple of items I had no intention of buying yesterday. Guitar Hero Live Supreme Edition for Xbox One proved too tempting at £31.99, and I've also bagged a few cute Frozen outfits for my nieces.
It's fascinating watching the day evolve - there are even live blogs for those who want to keep tabs on every deal that surfaces - and so there can only be one question to end this week: what did you buy on Black Friday 2016? Let us know using the comments facility below.
