Fenner Investments Ltd. are suing Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo for the alleged infringement of Patent No. 6,297,751, which refers to a low voltage joystick port interface. The lawsuit refers to the Xbox 360, PS2 and GameCube consoles and Fenner Investments are seeking to claim substantial compensation

It's not the first time that console manufacturers have ended up in court over alleged patent infringements, Immersion are still in the midst of a long drawn out court case with Sony over their next-gen rumble technology. Microsoft settled a similar lawsuit with Immersion before it went to court.

This latest court action is likely to drag on for many months.

More of the same, people after money
remember, kids, joysticks didn't exist until the mid 90s. any you had for your spectrum, commodore, or similar, are figments of your imagination

why is “prior art” not important in patents anymore?
These things are so yawnful now…I mean does somebody sit at a desk and go

“Bloody hell, Nintendo, Sony AND Microsoft have stolen our idea for a low voltage joystick. I can't believe I never realised this before!”.
Seems completely and utterly nonsense to allow someone to patent “a low voltage joystick”

I wonder if anyone has a patent on “black coat-hooks”?
