Video game designer American McGee believes that the PS3 and Xbox 360 are purely upgrades, whereas Wii is the true next-gen console.
In an interview with CVG, Mcgee said "The only truly next-gen console out there is the Wii. Everything else is just a video card and processor upgrade."
McGee is known and respected in the gaming industry and began his career as a level designer and part of the programming staff for such games as Doom II, Quake, and Quake II. In 1998, he moved to Electronic Arts, where he worked as a consultant on many projects and also created his own game, American McGee's Alice. He's more recently known for Bad Day L.A.
McGee goes on to talk about the PS3 and Xbox 360 and critises both Sony and Microsoft on their greed: "I sense that Nintendo is going to capture the hearts of gamers while Microsoft and Sony stab each other in the neck for market domination. Nintendo is focused on innovation and games. The other guys are focused on making money,"he said.
English Steve (well if he can have a stupid name so can I!) believes that he may have a point, but it's far too early to completely agree with him.
