What's a person to do during recurring lockdowns? One idea is to take this opportunity to upgrade the PC, or indeed other tech throughout the house. Such activities used to be relatively straightforward, but many things we once took for granted have been turned upside down, and a task as simple as buying a new graphics card is now akin to finding a needle in a haystack.

Stock shortages on items ranging from toilet paper to game consoles have been well documented, and we're curious to learn how circumstances have impacted your upgrade plans. Perhaps you've had some luck sourcing new hardware, some might have been convinced to pay over the odds, and others might have given up the ghost entirely.

Either way, we want to know: have you managed to buy the upgrades you wanted? Share your thoughts using the comments facility below.

No. Would like a 3060 Ti, choice of three models due to case size restrictions. Not a whiff of any of them. The MSI Aero ITX isn't even listed anywhere that I can find.

Not prepared to go to the bother of bots, discord alerts etc. because why the hell should I?

Spent my upgrade money on some Technic Lego instead and having a lot more fun as a consequence.
Wanted to upgrade my GTX 1060 6gb for a RTX 3060ti for xmas, managed to get one ordered on xmas eve for delivery the week after, held off the PSU upgrade to see how i got on with my 500w, all went in ok and works great in all my games.
Just about, took a couple of months to catch one but did eventually get the 3080fe I was after.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

No.
I half upgraded my system in 2018,but it was done as an emergency purchase so didn't have all the money in place to get what I wanted. Hence in 2020,I was hoping to get the rest of it in place.

In terms of CPU upgrades - yes and no. I got a Ryzen 7 3700X,as the Ryzen 5 5600X was much more expensive, and the Ryzen 7 5800X was even more stupidly priced at the time. The lack of a Ryzen 5 5600 non-X didn't help. Looks like all my annoyance at B450 not initially being compatible with Zen3 was for nought. Zen3 didn't make much sense in price/performance for me.
In terms of RAM upgrades - yes and no. Wanted a Micron E-die 3600C16 32GB kit,and in the end stupidly waited for Black Friday and the kits vanished. Instead managed to get a reasonably priced 32GB Hynix C-die kit with relatively loose timings, which I have managed to tighten up.
In terms of new case - yes and no. I was looking at importing a mini-ITX case as a replacement for my £14 temporary special(much cheaper than some of the rip-off prices for the nicer ones here),but everything has gotten a bit screwed up,so didn't bother. Its starting to fall apart slightly now,but some tape fixed that. Found a case for my other system as that was ancient.
In terms of PSU - managed to find a good deal on one.
In terms of GPU - nope. I had to run CB2077 at cinematic settings and FPS. Good thing years of Fallout 4 playing have gotten me used to under 60FPS(in my case 30FPS).

At least I got all of the parts for good prices! :)
