The GPS market is growing rapidly, with several brands becoming more of a household name than a niche-product. Maker of GPS-based navigation software, Destinator, has this week announced a sales increase double that of the market's growth.

In Europe, the navigation market has increased some 27%, while Destinator has experienced a 55% increase in sales, according to market researchers Canalys. In terms of position in the market, that puts Destinator in second for PDA-based products and third for PNA (personal navigation assistant) products.

Godehard Gerling, Vice President of Business Development for Destinator Technologies in Europe, forsees further growth in the market:

Mobile navigation is about to take the final hurdle in terms of becoming a mass market. All drivers will soon realise the benefits of having a personal guide to safely and quickly deliver them to their destinations saving time, fuel and money.

It won't be long before every car comes with a GPS as standard and we have GPS modules embedded in our mobile phones, so getting a good foothold in the ever-growing market is important, something which Destinator appears to be doing well.

Funny that they don't mention how buggy, crude and cheaper their software is compared to the market leaders such TT5 navigator.

Incidentally, some of these so called Hexus “news” items are fastt becoming just PR statements on behalf of retailing companies. What happened to useful and balanced content?
