NEC NEW PC EMPLOYS DTS’ MULTI-CHANNEL DECODER

Agoura Hills, CA – October 12, 2005 – DTS (DTS, Inc.) (NASDAQ: DTSI) announced today that NEC Corporation (NASDAQ: NIPNY), the largest PC manufacturer in domestic Japan, is incorporating DTS’ multi-channel decoder as a standard on two upcoming PC models to be distributed in Japan by NEC Personal Products, Ltd. Both the NEC Multimedia PC VALUESTAR desktop series and the NEC Multimedia PC LaVie notebook series includes the decoder, marking the first time a major PC manufacturer is including a DTS decoder as a standard feature. The VALUESTAR and LaVie series are currently available in Japan.

The addition of the DTS multi-channel decoder in the NEC PCs allows consumers to enjoy content with best-in-class DTS soundtracks, including DVDs and surround music, on their PCs.

“We’re pleased to see such a large and established manufacturer such as NEC begin to include DTS decoders as a regular feature on new PC models,” said Brian Towne, Senior Vice President, Consumer Division at DTS. “This attests to the fact that they recognize growing consumer demand for DTS in the PC space.”
