Creative (Nasdaq: CREAF), the worldwide leader in digital entertainment products for the personal computer and the Internet, announces the Creative MuVo® NX personal digital audio player. Available in August, the MuVo NX will cost £119.99 including VAT.
Building on the success of the original MuVo, the MuVo NX moves the technology further forward. To load music, users just slide the MuVo apart, remove the 128MB memory module and plug it directly into the USB port on a PC, where it's immediately recognised as an external disk. Then users can simply drag and drop around 60 songs in WMA or 30 in MP3 format straight to it. Of course, the system can also be used to share or transfer other digital data such as files or photographs. Signal-to-noise ratio, at over 90dB, is better than that of rival players many times its size. A single AAA alkaline battery will power the MuVo for up to 11 hours.
The MuVo NX adds new user features and connectivity. The backlit LCD is used with the built-in scroller wheel to give fast, on-the-move music navigation. It displays full song information from ID3 tags and shows track number, play time, play mode and EQ setting. Its text display can be reversed to suit left-handed or right-handed users when carrying it in the armband (supplied) during any sporting activity.
Using the built-in microphone, users can record up to 8 hours of notes, meetings or interviews.
The MuVo NX is Creative's first MP3 player with M-PORT(tm) compatibility. Simply connect directly to compatible Creative speaker systems for streaming audio without cables. The USB connector on the MuVo NX docks with an equivalent port on the speakers and users can immediately enjoy their audio.
"The MuVo NX is another advance in our strategy of giving users more entertainment on the go," explains Julie McGuire, European business manager for MP3 Players with Creative. "As well as its powerful new features, we've added to the visual appeal with fresh new colours for the battery holders, which are now available in silver and red. "Naturally," she adds, "the MuVo NX is still great for sports. Active people will love the armband because it keeps the MuVo securely within reach, even during running or working-out. Whether they're left or right-handed, they can read the LCD easily - and because it's tough and has solid-state memory, users know their music will never 'skip', whatever they do."
The MuVo NX comes with Creative MediaSource(tm) software, which handles music conversion, management and archiving. It gives users everything they need to convert tracks to MP3 and WMA.
