Despite announcing the launch of the Optimus months ago, LG says it's unveiling the Optimus series today.

What is new, however, is the announcement of two more Android handsets and an Android tablet in the pipeline. LG is claiming the tablet "...will deliver vastly superior performance than other similar devices currently on the market while still managing to be thinner and lighter than competing devices."

There were no more details forthcoming on the tablet, but we were given the names of two more Android smartphones - the LG Optimus One with Google and the LG Optimus Chic - which will both come with Android 2.2.

The Optimus One is designed to be as Google-friendly as possible - i.e. easy access to Gmail, Android Market, Maps, etc. Meanwhile the Chic, as the name implies, is aimed at the self-conscious consumer and, once more looks to simplify an Android smartphone as much as possible.

"The LG Optimus Series is aimed at challenging the notion that one device can meet the needs of many," said Dr. Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Mobile. "At LG, we believe in providing people with many different choices because our customers are not all alike.  We want to provide devices that suit all needs and simplify people's lives."

There are no specs, prices or precise release dates yet, but the phones are expected by September, at the earliest, and the tablet by Q4 of this year. Below we have the Optimus One followed by the Optimus Chic.

The second phone (chic?) looks like a promising phone, I'm actually liking it. Provided that it doesnt cost alot.
