British luxury car maker Aston Martin has joined forces with Canadian luxury mobile phone manufacturer Mobiado, to produce an array of luxury mobile handsets, which is planned to be launched in May 2011.

Mobiado launched the CPT002 Aston Martin concept phone that will be the key to your Aston Martin vehicle.  Automatically unlocking the doors as you approach, Mobiado says this is the first time a phone connects directly to the car display while remaining in your pocket.

The phone's software combines with the vehicle GPS and hopes to provide a new level of social network experience. Enabling you to plan and organize your parking, FourSquare will show your and your friends' current location and nearby venues, integrated on a GPS map of the Aston Martin car display.

Furthermore, cameras integrated into the vehicle can be set to occasionally update Facebook or Twitter with pictures and videos.

Mobiado also said the vehicle's airbag will receive accelerometer information from the CPT002 in the driver's pocket, in the event of any accident. This will enable a more responsive control mechanism as the readings will provide the car information of the driver's acceleration movement.

The phone has a see-through capacitive touch screen and is made of transparent sapphire glass with the sides crafted from platinum. The sides of the phone incorporates the battery, electronics, and SIM card allowing for the screen of the phone to be transparent giving the phone a simple modern look while maintaining a luxurious appearance.

The phone will be displayed at the Basel World watch and jewelry show in Switzerland, and is expected to retail at £99. Only joking.

The battery life must be terrible though and I'm not convinced having your phone act as a car key is a good idea either
Judging by the phones available on the Mobiado website, I'm not convinced they have the technological ability to create the ‘concept’ phone.

I have to agree, looks nice but what's the point?
Is that one of those oven gloves from JML?
i can't see the phone being your key becoming an issue - i seriously doubt anywho who could afford either have ever been within a 10 mile radius of a person who has ever had an illegal thought, nevermind commited a crime
