There was lots of reference to the already announced N8, including the live demonstration of a movie trailer being played directly from an N8 via an HDMI cable to the big screen.

It was on this topic that Vanjoki got a bit prickly on behalf of Symbian. He feels a lot of commentators pre-judge Symbian ^3 merely because its outward appearance is much like previous iterations. However, he insisted that you've got to properly use a phone like the N8 to fully appreciate what it has to offer. We might just take him up on that.

There were a couple of other handsets launched during the keynote: The C6 and the higher-specced C7. The C6 has a 3.2 inch AMOLED touch screen, which features Clear Black Display technology, which offers blacker blacks, or something like that, for better outdoor visibility. The C7 has a slightly bigger screen and more power under the hood.

All three devices will be available in Q4. The C6 will cost €260, the C7 €335 and the E7 €495.

Well if you look at the UI on the BBC site:

…The responsiveness looks sloppy compared to Android and iOS. Not a good omen.
