Nexus in line

Google's Nexus S smartphone will reportedly go on sale in the UK 2 days later than expected but eager beavers should still get their hands on the Gingerbread-loaded phone before Christmas.

While Nexus S fans might be disappointed by the slight delay, with the smartphone now set to be available on 22 December, the hefty handset price cut announced yesterday should reward their patience.

Google's unlocked handset is now on sale on The Carphone Warehouse's website for just £430 including delivery. The smartphone was priced at £549 before although reasons for the price cut are unclear.

The handset, which notably features a contoured 4 inch AMOLED screen, NFC hardware and Android 2.3 Gingerbread, has been available to order since 6 December.

The Carphone Warehouse told The Inquirer that all customers who pre-ordered the handset will benefit from the price cut but did not elaborate upon why such a generous price cut was made.

There are rumours circulating of limited numbers of handsets available from the phone shop, which some cynics might suspect are designed to trigger queues round the block similar to those seen when the iPhone 4 went on sale.

While there has been some criticism of the Nexus S handset's similarities to the older Samsung Galaxy S, the price cut to the handset, plus shorter terms on contracts have made the Nexus S look a good-value proposition compared to its older Samsung-badged peer.

Guess if you order online you won't get before Christmas , with all the courier back log.
Quite tempted with the price drop.
This would definitely be my phone of choice if i wan't already 9 months into a contract with a Galaxy S. Definitely needed a price drop though.
