CONCLUSION

Having played with the Logitech 518, another switchable DPI mouse, I have to say that Logitech’s implementation of the DPI switching is easier to handle in a frantic game of COD or HL2 deathmatch. However, I do have to question just how often you’ll want to change the DPI when you’re playing a game.

In practise, I found it most useful in games such as Far Cry where, with the sniper rifle, I could up the DPI and still spin around like crazy even with the game’s built in damping knocking the sensitivity back. Then, once I’m using the M16, I knock the DPI back to 1600 where still a small movement spins me all over the place without me running out of mouse pad before I’ve done at least a 540 degree spin.

The real upper that the M2 has over the competition is its design and adjustable weight. I really can’t stress just how much of a boon these are. The wing helps you hold the mouse in a way that lets you take advantage of the wheel’s side-to-side buttons, meaning that you’ll use the ‘lean’ function in COD or HL2 much more frequently and without tying your fingers in knots at the same time.

The adjustable weight is a truly inspired idea and opens the M2 up to a wide market of discerning gamers. Buying a mouse that you know is going to be comfortable and easily modified to your personal tastes is a big selling point. Changing the weight of the mouse is a doddle, so you can easily swap around weights to your heart’s content. I’d like to be able to put maybe both the 10 and 20g weights in there at once as, if anything, I could even go just a tad heavier.

In summing up, there’s an awful lot going for the RAPTOR GAMING M2. Amazingly-high DPI, adjustable weight, ergonomic design, side-mouse wheel buttons, replaceable feet, programmable buttons… the list goes on. Even if you’re not gaming, the M2 is a comfortable mouse to use in normal app use, especially if you do a lot of desktop work. I thoroughly recommend getting your hands on one as your next purchase. Even if you don’t need a new mouse, get yerself one anyway, you won't regret it.
