Xbox 360 gamer, Jason Holmes, from Seaforde, Co Down in Northern Ireland gave up his job to concentrate on his dream of becoming a professional gamer. Such was his commitment to the cause and persistence in pursuing his goal, that he sold many of his belongings to fund a trip to Birmingham to take part in the Championship Gaming Series.

Holme's dedication has now paid off after he was considered to be one of the 20 best players on a number of games, including Project Gotham Racing 3. He's now been invited to join the Birmingham Salvo team, where he's signed a contract worth $30,000 which will see him travelling across the Globe playing against the world's best players.

In an interview with the Belfast Telegraph, Holmes said, "It is a dream come true. I have played constantly for four years and I still can't believe it. I had to sell what I had to hand, which happened to be 130 DVDs, five Xbox controllers, eight Xbox 360 games and I had to sell my mountain bike, that I bought for £1,000, for £100 because it was all the pawn shop would pay. In the end, I managed to scrape together just enough to travel."

"The risk was worth it, the whole experience was really intense, I didn't get much sleep but I am really excited about the future."

Holme's first taste of the big time will come when his skills will be tested to the limit in a tournament in Los Angeles. Good on you Jason! HEXUS.gaming wish you every success.
